WELCOME!! :)

Hello,

My name is Pilar and I am a teacher of English as a Foreign Language.

I decided to create this blog because the time for my class is not enough at school. Here you will find some stuff to practice what you learned, reinforce the content studied at school, have fun, sing along, watch a video, play games...

I hope this blog is appealing for those who visit it. And remember that suggestions are always welcome -thank you!

Have a nice day :-)

A Danish visit! :)

At the beginning of October, we had a very interesting and nice visit at school. A Danish friend of mine called Kasper came to meet the kids and participate in two of our classes. He told us some things about his country: Denmark. Then, we made a quizz and, afterwards, we had a bilingual lesson of Physical Education playing games using the English language :)

I hope you learned (and still remember) something from that day. I know you did enjoy yourselves quite a lot! ;)

Here you are some pictures of that day (October, 7th):

Thanks to the other teachers for collaborating, to the kids for their good behaviour and to Kasper for coming to school and participating! As he would say in Danish, "tak" :)

New year, new school, new kids...

Hi everyone in 6ºB and 6ºA! :D

As you know, I'm working in a different school this year. The name is Nuestra Señora de las Veredas and it's located in a small village called Guadalema de los Quintero, depending on Utrera (Sevilla).
This school is very small: there are only 45 children altogether! I'm teaching English to all of them, but I'm also "tutora" of the 3rd year class and I teach them Spanish reading, Spanish language, Maths and Arts and crafts. They are 7-8 years old and all of them are very good.

Here you are some pictures of my new school:

I'm good here but I miss you and hope to see you again soon! :)

Easter!! =)

And before Easter holidays, the last day at school (Friday, April the 15th) the kids had a great surprise: they had to search for an Easter egg each, hehe! At the beginning, they didn't know what was going on... I sent them all out of the classroom so that I could hide the eggs... When they came in, searched for an egg, sat down when found it and eventually ate it when everyone had theirs...uhmm!! :D

 5ºB looking for the eggs...

5ºA after finding the eggs :)

After eating the eggs, we watched a video where Mickey Mouse called the rest of his friends to do something similar... Mickey's Easter party
Hope you had a great Easter week! :)

Day of the Book

Hi there!

Last 14th of April we celebrated the Day of the Book, which is on the 23rd of April, but it was Easter holidays.

We were invited to go to Santa María Square to read some passages of Cervantes' Quijote. This reading was organised by the IES Fuente de la Peña, who danced some medieval dances before the reading. They also invited classes from other schools :)

You can see some photos below.

As you can see, after the reading, on our way back to school, we made a stop in this park (next to the bullring) for five minutes :)

We had a great morning, the kids got some knowledge of the Quijote novel. I hope they liked it and felt motivated by what they learnt to read this novel adapted to their age.

Now you should read for a while ;)

Carnival Time! :D

Hi!

Last Friday  4th of March, Carnival was celebrated at school! :)

It was a fun day as everyone could went to the party in costume, haha! There were fancy dresses as a robot, police officers, a nurse, clowns, a sheriff, a cowboy, an Egyptian woman, a waitress, Indian girls, a devil, a pirate, a chicken, a bee, a hippie... All the costumes were good! I was dressed up as a witch, haha! But I didn't have a broom for bad boys and girls, so I was a good witch ;)

We went to the playground for an hour to see the kids from Infantil singing and dancing! And there was a parade, haha!

You can see some photos below :p

Andalusian Day

Hello everyone!

On the 28th of February we celebrated Andalusian Day. As it was a bank holiday, it was celebrated the week before at school.

On Monday 21th we went to the Salobreja sports centre. The kids were playing typical Andalusian games and we were given a picnic composed of a roll, some olive oil, sugar and juice or milkshake. It was fun: there were inflatable castles, we ran relay races, sack races... :D Some kids were even interviewed to be on the news (on TV)! In the end, there was a prize for some MP3s, books, and even a digital camera! But they were not lucky :(

On Friday 25th they made a project with the Andalusian flag and some presentations about each Andalusian province. All the projects were very well done and interesting! :)

Here you are some photos of the activities that were carried out. Hope you like them!

Oh là là!

Yesterday we went to the theatre to see a version of "Treasure Island". The play was funny and interesting because the actors took some boys and girls from the audience to take part in the performance :) LOL
And the best thing was that, when we got back to school, we went to the playground because it was 12 o'clock, hehe!

These are some photos of the performance. Hope you like them.

Santa's home...

Hello!

We read about Lapland this week and I'd like to leave some photos and a link about it.

Lapland is in the north of Finland, Sweeden and Norway. It's a region with different places to visit and one of them is Santa's house!

In Lapland you can ride snowmobiles, visit a Husky farm, play with the elves on the snow, ride a reindeer sleigh and have lots of fun!

Here you are a link of the website of Lapland http://www.laplandfinland.com/In_English.iw3 and some photos of there... Hope you like it!

And remember to be good girls and boys... Santa has already started his long journey to leave presents for everyone! ;)

MI REGRESO... ;)

¡¡Hola a todas y a todos!!

¿Cómo están mis niños y mis niñas guapos y guapas? Espero que deseando tenerme de vuelta, a ver si ahora no vais a querer tenerme allí, jaja! ;)

Muchos besitos,
Pilar.

Isle of Arran

Hi there!

How are you? I hope you are happy to see me soon again because I'm looking forward to seeing you all! ;)

Yesterday I was on a trip to the Isle of Arran, on the west of Scotland. It is a small island, but very beautiful! You can drive around the island for 5-6 hours and you will see everything, haha!

In order to arrive in the island, first I had a train from Glasgow to a small village called Ardrossan. And then, we went from Ardrossan to Brodick by boat. It was a big ship, white, black and red, similar to the Titanic, haha! There was a café, a restaurant, a room with sofas, toilets, terraces and a room with tables and chairs for people travelling with dogs!

On the island, I saw a castle, I was on the beach, I visited a chocolate factory, a cheese shop... ñam ñam, hehe! I ate a lot yesterday! ;)

Here you are a photo of the island. Hope you like it! See you next Monday 20th of December!!! =)

Kisses,
Pilar.

Highlands

Hi, my dear pupils!! :p

How are you? I've heard your behaviour is not being very good, that you're talking a lot and that you're being very noisy!!! :( I hope you change this...

Last week I was on a 2-day tour in the Highlands, the northern part of Scotland! And everything there is beautiful!!!! There are mountains with snow on the tops, great lakes, rivers, valleys, hills... And sheep everywhere, haha!
I visited many places: Glencoe, Ben Navies, Fort Williams, Fort Augustus, Loch Ness, Inverness, the Battlefield of Culloden, Dunkeld and Stirling.
Stirling is very famous for William Wallace (from the film 'Braveheart'), hehe!
And I slept very near the loch Ness and I went on a boat trip for 1h, but I didn't see the monster, haha!! ;) Do you know the monster Nessie?? In Spanish it's "el monstruo del lago Ness", but in English Nessie is a female monster!! :0

Ah, today I have sent you something by mail... So I hope you receive something on Friday or maybe on Monday next week... And I hope you like it! ;)

I leave you with a picture of Loch Ness...

Be good and see you soon!

Love you all,

Pilar xx

Edinburgh

Hi!

How are you? I'm very cold but well! ;)

Sorry for not writing more, but I can't write everyday! My internet connection here is very slow and bad... And some days I can't do much! :(

Yesterday I was in Edinburgh!! Glasgow is the biggest city in Scotland, but Edinburgh is the capital city! And it's really beautiful!!! I visited the castle in the morning, and I went to a rugby match in the afternoon... Scotland-New Zealand!! :) New Zealand is the best national rugby team of the world!! They won 3-49, haha! Poor Scotland!

Now I am going to bed, because I have to be at school at nine o'clock tomorrow, like you! :p

This is the Edinburgh Castle. I hope you like it!

Kisses and hugs! Miss you,

Pilar xx

Una noticia interesante... (in English)

Primary school subjects overhaul

Primary class
The review wants to create a more flexible primary timetable
A major review of the curriculum for England's primary schools suggests that six broad "areas of learning" could replace individual subjects.
The report from government adviser Sir Jim Rose wants to create a more flexible, less "overloaded" timetable.
It also calls for children to learn more about well-being, happiness and healthy living.
Sir Jim rejected this was "dumbing down" and said the changes reflected the skills most needed by children.
